CRUST FUND: Wide Awake CSA

The Wide Awake Bakery Crust Fund does not currently have space for new members. If you would like to join the waiting list, please email WideAwakeBakery@gmail.com with the subject “Crust Fund Waiting list” and we will contact you if the space opens up. Thank you for your interest!

Our Crust Fund, or breadshare, is a CSA for bread, a Community Supported Bakery.

You can become a member and get bread on a regular basis while helping make us more sustainable. When you sign-up for a share, you arrange to pick up your bread at a specific time and location. You control your account from the convenience of your computer, and it offers lots of flexibility.

We also partner with a number of local farm CSAs, including Full Plate Farm Collective, Sweet Land Farm, Plowbreak Farm, to offer our bread alongside their vegetable shares.

We are not accepting new members right now!

Crust Fund FAQ

  • You put money on your account and specify in advance the number of loaves you would like per week. Choose where and when you would like to pick it up, and a loaf will be waiting for you every week!

  • Our system is credit based. You don't purchase "weeks" or "seasons." Instead, you simply put money on your account. As long as your account is active, we're deducting from the account. Whenever you're on hold, we don't bake for you, and your account sits untouched.

You can pay online with Paypal, or credit card, or pay by cash or check (made out to WIDE AWAKE BAKERY) when you see us, or you can send it to us at :
    Wide Awake Bakery
    4361 Buck Hill Rd S
    Trumansburg, NY 14886

  • Because we will be baking you a loaf every week, even if you don’t pick it up your account will still be charged.

If you know ahead of time you won’t make it, you can always ask a friend to pick it up, or put a hold on your hold for the week.

  • On your account page there is a "delivery holds" tab. Click that and you'll find a simple calendar widget that lets you put your bread on hold. We won't bake it. You won't get it. And you won't be charged for it. Simple!

You are also always welcome to send us an email at wideawakebakery@gmail.com.

IMPORTANT: The window for pausing your account is three days before your pick up. Why three days? Because it takes that long to bake your bread.

  • Your crust fund is NON-REFUNDABLE: Why? The way the Community Supported Bakery functions is simple: when you pay in a lump sum, that gives us a measure of financial security. We use the money you put on your account to pay our employees, purchase materials, fix broken things, and donate bread to causes we support.

To Cancel your account: Write us a note with the subject heading "Cancel."

Additional Benefits: When you become a member, you get your weekly bread for $5.75 a loaf, which is $1.25 off the retail price of $7.00. AND, as a member, if you want additional loaves at the distribution site or at any of the markets we sell at, you can buy them at the member price of $5.75.

  • One weird thing about our system is that YOU CANNOT CANCEL YOUR ACCOUNT ON YOUR OWN! Even if your account runs out of money, the Breadshare will not be cancelled!

SO, if you do need or want to cancel your account, we ask that you please send us an email, and we will be happy to help you with that.
